Kent police is telling residents of Sevenoaks and Borough Green to be wary over increased reports of doorstop sellers in the area.
The salesmen have been seen trying to sell cleaning products at higher than average prices.
On Wednesday evening, a resident in Sevenoaks said a former prisoner was selling items and became aggressive after the homeowner declined to buy any goods.
Mark Ginsberg, Police Sergeant for Tonbridge and Malling said: “The only people who can sell door to door legally are licensed pedlars, the licence will be police issued and they should have possession of it when selling and produce it on demand
“I would like to remind residents to be vigilant and always ask for I.D. when someone knocks and is claiming to be from a scheme or company”
Anyone with concerns or information to this type of incident is being urged to contact Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting 26-0967.
